A bomb threat leads to the evacuation of all the Blue Cross Blue Shield Buildings in Chattanooga.

Around 2:00 Friday afternoon someone called reporting a bomb at one of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Buildings in the Downtown area.

A company spokesman tells News 12 the threat was not specific so as a precaution all eight to 10 buildings were evacuated.

Chattanooga bomb techs and K-9s immediately started the task of searching all the Blue Cross properties.

Kim Noorbergen with Chattanooga Police said "It's a huge scope I mean it's a lot of area to cover but from what I've talked to the Blue Cross Officials some of the buildings are not the magnitude as the gold building or the one that's on the hill right now some of them are smaller properties."

Instead of waiting for the all clear, workers went home early.

Not Just Blue Cross Blue Shield

There were many other businesses impacted by the Blue Cross Blue Shield bomb scare. In buildings where BSBS is a tennet....any other tennet in the same building had to evacuate and it cost many of them quite a bit of money, employee down-time and overtime for many to make up for lost work.
