If you heat your home with natural gas, the price you pay could be going up -- despite lower fuel costs.

Chattanooga Gas Company just filed a rate case with the state to increase your bill.  The company requested an increase of over $2.5-million citing increased operating costs, increased costs to finance new infrastructure, and decreasing operating revenue due to lower usage by customers.

The hike would work out to about $2.84 for the average customer.

Meanwhile, Chattanooga Gas also proposes an energy-efficiency program, offering customers free programmable thermostats and rebates to encourage the purchase of high-efficiency appliances.  They suggest the program would save consumers money.

they are just to high

they are just to high already price should go down not up whats next light bill go higher to when we freeze just so we can pay the bill

Fuming

We are bundling up, setting our thermostats at a lower temperature in an effort to save money. Now Chattanooga gas wants to raise rates because we are not spending as much on gas? Does that mean that we will pay the same for gas no matter how much we use? Why bother to conserve then?
