Chattanooga Mayor Returns From Germany, Talks Turn To U.S. Economy

kChattanooga Mayor Ron Littlefield returns from a trip to Germany.

While there he says he spoke with Volkswagen officials about the U.S. financial crisis.

Mayor Littlefield says their main concern was how the economy would fair in two years - the time when the new Chattanooga plant is planned to be up and running.

Littlefield adds, "The VW people assured me and told me to assure our representatives that their commitment to the plant in Chattanooga remains. They're committed and going to get it done."

The city and county mayor, along with the governor will return to Germany later this month.

They plan to discuss and potentially recruit auto-parts suppliers.
