Cleveland's Greenway Expanding and Enriching Lives
Cleveland's Greenway is one of the city's proudest achievements.
Judging by the crowds, it's popular with residents too.
"I work out of town, so I try to get here at least once or twice a week," says Mitchell Gywnn, a jogger.
Construction for the citywide track began nearly a decade ago.
The Greenway follows alongside Mouse Creek, running a network of paths throughout Cleveland.
3 phases of the trail are completed with 3 more in the works for 2009.
"It's just a great chance for people to come out and get some exercise and stay healthy," says Steven Bivens.
Funding has come from all directions. Government grants, local commercial sponsors and private donations.
When a small spot off of Keith Street is completed, the trail will run nearly two miles long.
"[I enjoy] the exercise, the sunlight, getting away from work, getting everything else out of your mind," says Anna Ritchey.
The Greenway continues to be an important project in Cleveland and Bradley County and nearly every land owner has cooperated in the city's effort to complete it.
