Cleveland's Johnston Memorial Park Shiny And New
A year ago the gazebo at Johnston Park was a mess.
Rundown, cracked and taped off. Councilman Avery Johnson and the City vowed to fix it up and restore the jewel of downtown.
"It's the most important part of the downtown. We just looked at the gazebo and boards falling off of it and everything. We knew that it needed to be fixed up," say Councilman Avery Johnson.
The minor construction and fresh paint has revitalized one of the oldest parks in Cleveland.
John and Mary Johnston donated the land to the city in 1937.
Since then it's served as a central landmark in the downtown business district.
"I just love to come up here and sit and enjoy it," says Barbara Masingale. "It's peaceful and it's quiet. I just love it that redid the gazebo here because it was in real bad shape."
Good Story
I think this story was great! Mr. Law did an excellent job.

Park still needs work!
If this is the "Jewel" of downtown Cleveland then by all means the city needs to put a little of that money they are giving to Whirlpool into it and make it look more appealing to the the community. Its just too plain and boring. And what is up with the gazebo anyway, It was never used, and on top of that, they built a bigger, better one in front of the court house that will never be used either. What a way to spend taxpayers money!!!!
