Collegedale and surrounding communities now have a recycling center.

The center is located on Sandborn Drive.

Newspaper, mixed paper, #1 and #2 plastics, aluminum and tin cans are among the accepted items.

Used motor oil is also accepted and will be used to heat city facilities.

Cardboard in *not* accepted at this time, but officials hope to add it to the list in the future.

The new center was a joint effort between East Hamilton County, the city of Collegedale and Commissioner Bill Hullander.

"We had initially done curbside recycling a few years back. It just didn't have a high participation level or profitable in the least bit but we're trying to get back into recylcing now and get this phase with a drop off center," Collegedale City Manger Ted Rogers noted.

Volunteers are needed to operate the facility on weekends. To volunteer call the city of Collegedale at 423.396.3135.
