Those high emotion town hall meetings came to the Tennessee Valley Monday.
Congressman Lincoln Davis met with constituents in Kimball and the topic was healthcare...
The crowd cheered as a former social worker and insurance adjuster named Betty from Sequatchie county said, "My question to you Congressman Davis...is will you kill this bill and scrap it and start all over and listen to us, rather than your party, the unions, or any of these other fringe groups? You need to listen to the people who pay your salary."
Betty was one of hundreds of tax payers crowded into the Kimball Town Hall for a meeting with their congressman.
An unnamed man said, "Most of us are from the little towns, hamlets, and farms in the area. We're not rabble rousers, this is unusual for us."
Like many recent town hall meetings across America emotions were high.
A concerned woman said, "Why don't the congress and all of the house, if we're gonna have to go on that insurance let them have it too?"
But support over so called "Obamacare" was split.
Evelyn Lawson of Marion County is uninsured, her husband is in end stage renal failure, "This is supposed to be the richest nation in the world, but they can't take care of their elderly people. Something's wrong somewhere. And I'm a Republican almost Democrat. I say give Obama a chance."
The presidential proposal for health care reform and universal health care has many running scared.
Few disagree with the need for reform, but everyone disagrees with how to achieve it.
Betty said, "Healthcare is not a power of the federal government under our constitution. Your job is to ensure our freedom not take it away."
In the end cheers erupted at this town hall meeting as Congressman Lincoln Davis said without serious changes, the bill would not get his support, "As the way this bill stands today, I will not vote for it."
Davis said he would not support a bill blocking access to private insurance or providing coverage for illegal immigrants.

I was at the town hall meeting with Lincoln Davis and when he asked how many there were on medicare the majority raised their hands on a government insurance, yet they were arguing that they didnt want government ins.I'm for health reform my husband and I both work and have been turned down repeatedly from ins. companies because of pre-existing conditions .It was 9:00 am when the meeting was held, who do you think is going to show up.I don't think its the insurance their against, its because its coming from a democratic President ,and if its passed they will be the first in line .

ILLEGALS
Submitted by Guest (not verified) on August 24, 2009 - 8:01pm.
They are responsible for the following:
1. High insurance premiums, illegals WON'T pay for insurance.
2. Health departments closing, because of abusing sources.
3. THEY WON'T PAY TAXES, so ours goes up.
4. They get tax free pay, when we would go to jail.
5. All the tax free money they get, they don't even put it back into our ecomony, they send it back to mexico!
When our government finally gets it through their thick heads about this problem with illegals, instead saying it's a racial issue when it's brought up for discussion, we are going to continue to be broke and taxed to death!
All for people who don't even help us back, WE NEED TO STOP HELPING THE ILLEGALS LIVE THE GOOD LIFE, WHEN THEY WANT TO PAY FOR IT, THEN THEY CAN HAVE A TASTE OF THE AMERICAN PIE, JUST LIKE THE REST OF US!
All these illegals should NOT be given free medical care for them or their children, when our own are suffering!!!!!

Lincoln Davis got it right
Finally a democratic congressman with a clue as to how damaging these bills are. I personally will never support ANY bill that sidesteps tort reform. As long as doctors are having to shell out over $250,000/year in malpractice insurance premiums, reform isn't happening as far as I'm concerned. The overwhelming majority of the "legislators" on Capitol Hill, as well as Obama, get money from tort lawyers, so they won't do anything about frivolous malpractice suits.
