Congressman Zach Wamp scolds the House for not extending the foreign surveillance act. Wamp made the remarks Saturday at a news conference where Senator Lamar Alexander was pushing Congress to act on a tax credit for homebuyers. Wamp notes that effective today..the act has lapsed. He says the United States Senate saw fit to extend the act but thinks politics played a role in the House's decision. Wamp adds that the country is not listening to the calls needed to protect the country from people that seek us harm. He did say that the issue will hopefully be brought back up in the next couple of weeks. The House and Senate will meet again a week from Monday.

FISA
I hope you will change your mind and vote against the FISA "renewal". The Senate passed version is not a simple renewal since it has reduced the oversite for such items as warrantless wiretaps and searches of our domiciles while we are not there AND never notifying us of that search having been done.
I hope you will recall Benjamin Franklin's advice that in summary says that if we give up some of our freedom in exchange for our security, we will soon have neither!
I'm serious when I ask you to reconsider your support of this bill which seeks to erode our liberty and freedom unnecessarily.
