Sex Offender Arrested

A convicted sex offender gets in trouble with the law once again. Hamilton County Investigators say Terry Beason exposed himself to a six-year-old playing at the Falling Water Elementary School playground last Friday.
His sister spoke to WDEF News 12 declaring his innocence.

An innocent evening on the playground at Falling Water Elementary School turned sour Friday when a six year old and the child's grandfather spotted something sordid in the wood line behind the school.

Det. Mike Cox, Hamilton Co. Sheriff's Office, "The grandfather observed him out there with his pants down around his knees."

Detective Mike Cox managed to track down a suspect.

Det. Cox,"I initially got a map of the area and looked in about a three mile radius of the area, cross referenced that with the sex offender registry and found there was a sex offender who lived within just a little over a thousand feet from the school."

It was 44 year old Terry Beason. He was convicted of attempted rape of a child back 1999. The registry classifies him as violent. Detective Cox says the grandfather identified Beason in a photo line up.

Colleen Holland, Parent, "He shouldn't be in the area where the children are."

Parents express relief that a suspect got caught but there's lingering concern.

Holland, "The fact that he was that close. There could be others yeah. That definitely bothers me as a parent.

And Police are thankful that nothing worse happened.

Det. Cox, "I would consider it a serious situation. He's a registered sex offender and for him to be in the area doing the kind of activity he's involved with it's a concern."Linda Sharp, Beason's sister "He's getting accused of something that he did not do."

Sharp says he couldn't have done it because she says he has severe Parkinson's Disease and an alibi.

Sharp, "He did pay for what he done before and it is unfair and if I knew he did it, I'd be just like everybody else. But I know that he was with me all that day and he's been with me 24/7 since he got out."

Beason is charged with observation without consent and indecent exposure. Detective Cox says he could later be charged with violation of the sex offender registry.
