Dalton police are warning local businesses and citizens about a car scam in the area.
Two people claiming to represent the Atlanta Auto Group agreed to buy some used cars from a Dalton dealer.
But the checks never cleared.
Investigators say they set up bogus accounts, phone numbers and identities.
And they've done it all over the south.
Here's the best advice from police on how to avoid such a scam.
Get at least two forms of identification from someone buying a vehicle.
And if they are from out of town.. Check with the B-B-B or chamber of commerce to see if their company really exists.
