Deadly Wreck Near Birchwood on Highway 60

A head-on collision in Hamilton County killed one person and sent another to the hospital early Wednesday afternoon.

It happened on highway 60 close to the Bradley County line.

Tennessee State Troopers are still investigating how it happened...

but believe a northbound truck crossed the double lines and hit the car.... Killing the driver.

Trooper Thomas Seymore: "We had one witness to the scene that had actually passed the vehicle. She was also heading southbound. She also advised that he had came into her lane of travel. She had to run out of the roadway is what she advised us. She looked back in her rear view and actually seen I guess the contact of the vehicles."

Traffic was diverted for a couple of hours as law enforcement reconstructed the scene.

Charges are pending against the truck driver.
