Divers Bring Up Trash Out Of the River For The Tennessee River Rescue
Divers from all over the Tennessee Valley area jumped in to help with the Tennessee River Rescue Saturday.
This is the 20th year for the rescue, which helps to pull a lot of that junk and trash up from the river bottom.
The Chickamauga River Dam was one of 20 zones.
Two years ago, divers brought up two trailer loads of trash found underwater.
Last year just one load, and this year less than one trailer load.
Diver Greg Eiche says it feels good to do your part.
He says, "As a diver you see a lot of things that are under the surface, and a lot of people don't realize what's going on with the environment under the water. We're here to make the impact to show the public that it's not okay to litter."
Volunteers also cleaned up the banks along both sides of the river.
