Two East Ridge Middle School students get charged with having weapons on campus.

Police tell us the school resource officers received information Friday morning that there was going to be a fight at the school.

Officers spent the day investigating and found two children with weapons.

One reportedly had a knife and the other brass knuckles.

Police say it appears to be gang related.

Both boys have been taken to the Juvenile detention center.

East Ridge Public Information Officer Erik Hopkins says officers managed to stop any possible violence planned at the school.

Erik Hopkins, "We were just responding to the potential of violence here and all that was quelled by fast response and good investigation skills."

The investigation delayed the dismissal of classes at the school.

Brass knuckles and a fight

Brass knuckles and a fight after school makes me think of the movie "3 O'clock High". Good thing it was prevented. There really should be a class that teaches kids to communicate with each other. Math, language and science classes are important, but so is character building skills.
