A vehicle strikes and kills a good Samaritan in Chattanooga trying to lend a helping hand to another victim who got hit by a car.
It happened in the 1300 block of McCallie around 4:15.
Police say a pedestrian darted out into traffic where a vehicle struck him.
Another driver who saw what happened stopped to help.
A vehicle traveling in the opposite direction struck him.
Both victims were taken to Erlanger.
The first person struck in critical condition.
The good samaritan died from his injuries.
No names have been released.
i agree with the first
i agree with the first person. the ploice are not in the places they should be, i think that if the police knows that driving their cars home help with the site of the car bein there, then why, in heavens name are they not out driving the streets while on duty instead of parked in hidding somewhere, we need our police cars OUT THERE on the roads. where they can be seen. you don't have to hide to catch the bad guy, they are doing their crimes right out in the open.
The police are almost never
The police are almost never where they need to be, meaning if they stop hiding behind buildings and popping out on motorist, they should make themselves visible and motorist would slow down and situations like this may not happen. I'm not blaming the police, but for them to be seen and not hidden makes a differance on how people drive. People tend to slow down when they see the police. I hate that this happened, someone doing good for someone else was killed. I hope this doesn't make other good people stop doing good for someone else. My prayers are for both victims and the drivers of the cars that were involved.
Typical Genius
You're a typical Chattanooga genius. Where would the police hide ON AN OVERPASS?!?
Wow...uhm, look both ways
Wow...uhm, look both ways before crossing the street? I learned that trick in elementary school.

The person that made the
The person that made the comment on look both ways, was heartless and brainless. Make sure you use the same comment if this happens to someone you know or love.
I agree with you. I knew the
I agree with you. I knew the man that sacrificed his life to help another not many people left out there willing to do the same. There is a special place for Mr. Cross

You should've met the guy
I recently had the pleasure of meeting the man one Sunday. I sat down and we started talking about his artwork. I asked him how he became interested in art... he told me he grew up with a bunch of older brothers, here in Chattanooga and that he had no formal trainig growing up- he had just always had the knack.
I promised the man that the next week I'd have him sketch my 2 young sons, and he showed me how he could capture their attentions so they wouldn't keep looking away.
The lesson ("trick")I learned in elementary school was, "there's no better time than the present". I failed to do so.
And for the rude comment, just some piss-ant kid who hasn't found any talent.
