The Hamilton County Commission celebrates 30 years of its current form of government.
The ceremony began with new Chairman Jim Coppinger taking his oath of office.
Current and former commissioners applauded the achievements of the commission government culminating with excitement of the Volkswagen deal.
Dalton Roberts, the first County Executive, praised the elected commission for its equal representation, "I used to say when those little girls watching television at night see the county commission come on and those little black children I want them to realize that there can be a place for them in their government."
Current County Mayor Claude Ramsey thanked those who played a role in the Commission government and said he looks forward to another 30 years.
