Largest Undercover Drug Round-up In Sequatchie County Nets 79 Arrests
Comments Below: 6
Officers carried red and manilla folders containing the names of 58 folks in Sequatchie County destined for a bad day. Sheriff Ronnie Hitchcock says "this year long investigation, I dubbed it Operation Prescription, they wrote'em, we filled'em."
Sequatchie County deputies and nearly a half dozen other agencies went door to door, hoping to solve 230-drug cases during the largest round-up in county history. Sheriff Hitchcock says "its involved like 1851 pills we took off the street and they were valued on the street at roughly $19,000."
For the most part, those being targeted went peacefully, although one man tried to sneak out his back door and into the woods. Deputy Chief Clint Walker says "he cooperated, if he hadn't I probably wouldn't have caught him, but he uh... When I yelled, stop police, he turned around and realized there was more than just me so he gave up."
Authorities here believe the economy -- and the quick dollar available from selling prescription drugs -- may be fueling this felony. Deputy Chief Walker says he thinks "prescription drugs is probably one of our biggest problems right now, it used to be meth, and meth is still a problem, but it seems more and more people are switching to prescription drugs like oxycontin."
...And hydrocodone, xanax. Many of those picked up Wednesday wont be given bond, until appearing in court Friday.
Some of the 79-people targeted were already behind bars. Sheriff Hitchcock says if residents don't get the message, his team will conduct another operation in the near future.![]()
Drugs in Dumlap?
They have snitches that go around pushing fake drugs. They don't really don't have many real drugs down there. They like to let on though. Be wary of someone selling tylenol and claiming it's hydrocodone. When court day arrives, they don't have very much real drugs as evidence. It's the intent that they get you on. most people will cop a plea and take a year probation and pay the fees. Dunlap just wants your money, that's all. 1,851 pills averages out to about 23 per suspect. Wow! big bust.
bust n dunlap
MY, MY, MY! DID SOMEBODY'S MOMMA GET BUSTED?
Drug Bust!!!
You mean they really went after all them....I wonder about the dignitaries, business owners, farmers, civil workers, judges, city police, sheriffs, county employees... etc. They have turned their heads all this time? I wonder why,,,kinda similar to the myspace.com girls at the high school. Maybe they have relatives who are state representatives or sheriff's as fathers! What about all the moonshine, especially on Lewis Chapel, just ask all the four wheeler people they know who and the gas station next to the old court house who takes you back to the boss hog days... I wonder how the judge will let this one go? Probably turn his head again.... Ronnie said he will go after them again. LOL this is Dunlap! This is way they want it don't rock the boat. Just enjoy the gambling, drugs, and moonshine the resort in the valley or the black hole as it is known......
Moonshine?????????
I am very concerned about there still being moonshiners in this area. I mean very concerned. It must be stopped. So concerned in fact I would like to know exactly where it is located so I can go there and buy some I mean go there and try to get them to stop. Any information you can give would be appreciated.
Drug bust!
I wonder how many are dignitaries are involved! Maybe a judge, business owners, I wonder if they will ever go after the moonshine up on Lewis Chapel and other mountains too. Oh yes the gas station next to the old court house, the bars that sell the drugs outside the doors and the illegal gaming going on in the bars too! What about the sheriff officers and city police who are involved with the druggies too. This happens everyday in Dunlap right infront of the officials and they turn their heads. It's about time, but the judge will probably go easy like other popular events in Dunlap like the My Space.com high school girls who happen to have a state representative as a relative and a sheriff as a father. So lets open up the can of worms and get them all.
