There was a big food giveaway in downtown Fresno on Thursday.

Members of the San Joaquin Memorial basketball team helped Catholic Charities distribute over 30,000 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables to people in need.

The Community Food Bank was also involved in the distribution effort.

Most of the food given away was grown in the Central Valley.
