The City of Tulsa will hold its first online surplus property auction on Friday.
The online setting gives the public a way to bid online for vehicles, office equipment, heavy equipment and many other kinds of merchandise.
The first online auction is hosted at www.purplewave.com. It will be open from June 21 to July 12, 2013. Customers can register online and, when bidding is complete, make payment arrangements online.
Photos of the merchandise can be seen on the auction web pages at: http://www.purplewave.com/cgi-bin/pwdetails.cgi?130712
Items can also be viewed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 11 and 12 by visiting the City’s surplus property facility at 108 N. Trenton Ave. A limited number of computers will be available at the site for bidders to use.
The City of Tulsa’s Finance Department will work with other online auction companies in coming months to see which produces the best results and will compare results with those of the traditional auctions which have been held twice yearly in Tulsa, one in the springtime and one in the fall. The goal is to maximize returns and lower costs of disposing of surplus property.
Bidding starts to close, item by item, at 10 a.m. on July 12 and most items will probably be closed by noon. Registration and bidding processes are explained on the auction website.
