Construction has begun on a new health clinic in east Lubbock.

University Medical Center's Health System and Physician Network Services plan to open the new 9,000 square foot facility this November at 4105 Interstate 27.

CEO of UMC Physician Network Services, Paul Acreman, said the facility will include family medicine, urgent care, occupational medicine, and physical rehabilitation services.

"We've talked to a lot of businesses about where the right place to put an occupational medicine clinic would be," Acreman said, "and they suggested that on the east or central side of Lubbock where so many businesses are, where so much traffic and goods and services transport up and down the interstate."

According to Acreman, patients at the new facility will also have access to UMC's electronic medical record system.
