MEMPHIS, TN ( - A woman is recovering from multiple injuries as her boyfriend sits behind bars for nearly beating her to death.

Investigators say the woman and her boyfriend, 24-year-old Antonio Davis, had gotten into a fight on Sunday, June 2, when he accused her of cheating on him. According to the police affidavit, Davis became irate and began kicking her, punching her in the face and stomach, and beating her across her back with a belt. He then hit her in the head repeatedly with the cable box, and retrieved a handgun and began to pistol-whip her. She lost consciousness when he choked her, and awoke to continued beating.

After blacking out again, the woman was forced into a closet and doused in lighter fluid as Davis threatened to burn her alive while flicking a lighter at her. She told police the beating continued for about seven hours until her daughter called.

She said Davis threatened to shoot her in front of her children if she told anyone what had happened. The woman was able to seek medical attention at St. Francis Hospital on June 4, and the staff notified police of her assault.

Antonio Davis was later arrested and booked at the Shelby County Jail on Monday, June 10. He is charged with Attempted First Degree Murder and Especially Aggravated Kidnapping. Davis is being held on a $500,000 bond.
