Store Clerk Charged in Raleigh Shooting

MEMPHIS, TN ( - A clerk at a Raleigh area gas station has been charged with Aggravated Assault for shooting a man he said was trying to rob the store Sunday night.

Memphis police were called to the Citgo at 2915 Old Austin Peay around 10:20 p.m. on Sunday, March 31. When officers arrived, they found a 51-year-old man standing outside the convenience store with a gunshot wound to his torso.

The victim told police the store clerk shot him because he was asking for money. Upon questioning, the employee told officers the man reached over the counter to try and rob the store. As the man ran to the back of the store, the employee shot the man in the back.

The victim was transported to The MED in critical condition. The store employee, 23-year-old Adam Algahim, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault. He is currently being held without bond at the Shelby County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court April 2.
