MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Memphis police have arrested a woman whose teenage son shot her husband during a domestic dispute.
Officers were called to the 500-block of Estridge around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, January 9. When they got there, they say they found a man in his mid-50s suffering from a gun shot wound to the head.
Investigators say the victim and his wife, 40-year-old Leslie Mann-Houston, had gotten into a physical altercation when she told her 16-year-old son to get her gun. The teen returned with the gun and shot his stepfather in the head.
"I didn't see any blood from the angle I was at. I just saw him holding a huge rag on his face and he had the little mask," said Eli Wyse, who lives across the street from the house.
Wyse, 15, said he talked to the teen from time to time.
"He is kind of an 'off' kid, he didn't talk to many people, I was the only one I think he ever talked too," Wyse said.
Both Mann-Houston and her son were charged with Aggravated Assault. Mann-Houston is being held at the Shelby County Jail on an $85,000 bond; her son remains in custody at the Juvenile Detention Center. The victim was last reported in critical condition at The MED.
Police noted in the affidavit there is no reported history of domestic violence between Mann-Houston and her husband.
