The news of Michael Jackson's death hit many people very hard in the Tennessee Valley.
Local DJs took numerous requests for his music Friday as they paid tribute to the icon.
WDEF News 12's Mandy Odom talked to past and present DJs about Michael's impact on the industry and the people in our top local story.
Former WNOO DJ TR Gunn says, "The first time you saw Michael was when you saw the whole family perform, but he stood out even then."
Michael Jackson stepped into the spotlight at age 11 with the Jackson 5.
Former DJs for WNOO Dr. John Baker, Bobby Q Day, and TR Gunn reminisced about their radio days, and when Michael hit the scene.
Bobby Q says, "He would liven up your telephone, and you'd have to answer it, and they'd want one Michael song after another."
     That's what happened Friday too.
Power 94 listeners called in to request his songs and share memories.
Morning DJs Eric Foster and Donna L joined in on the tribute.
Foster says, "I still know the entire Thriller video, the jackets that my Mom bought me, I wanted a curl, but she wouldn't let me have one. (Donna says, "Thank goodness!)"
Donna says Michael's music brought families and age groups together.
She remembers watching the Motown 25th anniversary.
Donna says, "Being with my Grandmother and my Mom and my little sister and just, just watching every dance move and feeling his energy and hoping that you could dance Michael. Everybody wanted to be Michael Jackson, male or female."
There was no one song that people requested, but many.
Michael's music spanned from the sixties to the present, influencing multiple generations and cultural groups.
Bobby Q says, "His music crossed all lines, really. I guess everybody except the country station played Michael."
Dr. John Baker says, "You know everybody back in the day, when you dance, people gonna do the Michael Jackson moonwalk. So, he influenced a lot of the younger people."
The King of Pop will not only be remembered for the music and dance moves he brought to life on stage, but also for being a successful African American.
Donna says, "His plan was to influence music. His plan was to reach us, and that's what he did, as a man and as a African American for other African Americans. (Eric says, "We love you Mike!) Miss you Mike!"

Funeral arrangements for Michael Jackson have not been arranged yet.

To The "King of POP".

My condolences go out to the entire Jackson family, to his beloved children and all those who truly loved him.

Michael, you will forever live in our hearts as the "KING of POP". You have inspired an entire nation of people and a generation of people to come. Your music, your signature moves, and your humanitarian believes for the good of those in need, are the markings you've left here on earth. For those who loved you through the good, the bad, and ugly can sincerely say, you will truly be missed. You've left a scar on those who embraced your talents, and respected your unique ideas that lead you to become one of the greatest.

Michael you can rest in peace knowing that you indeed changed the world and made it better. You've provided food for those who hungered, clothes for those who had none, smiles to those who lost there ability to smile, and a lifetime of memories to those who admired you. This is one of the many things Michael stood for, and what the media fails to mention.

My advice to those with the ambition to make it big. Keep in mind, you can never become big enough because the very people who made, you can also break you. Many new artist will come and go but, Michael will forever live through his music. For there isn't, nor will ever be, one like you. We love you. Always and forever. May you finally find yourself at peace knowing you've left our world with much to be greatful.
Thank you for the music.

R.I.P. Michael Joseph Jackson.

Shame On "shame On MJ"

TO: Shame On Michael Jackson. What's really a shame is that people like you are so filled with hatred and jealousy of anyone who makes something of themselves that you immediately run with it. Prosecutors love individuals like you as jurors, but judges, defense lawyers, fair minded, upstanding individuals cringe at the thought of having someone like you as a juror.

Remember, like the poster after you said, MJ was found NOT GUILTY. After theat the prosecutor had a personal vendetta against him and set out to destroy him.

Money buys shame

People forget that Michael Jackson paid possible millions to the boy's father to get his kicks on children. People forget that this thug hung his own children out the balcony window. How nice if you have money, you can pay off high priced attorneys and get off this crime on humanity. How sad it is for people to stand by a molester and allow his cravings to continue just because he's a celebrity. Remember OJ; got off with murder. How nice to be rich and be above the laws.

His Death

I always thought Michael Jackson was strange. I thought he talked like a girl and had a weird way of singing. But he has good music, and nobody should be happy about ANYONE'S death. It was awful that a music legend passed away. But honestly, it was as if people assumed he would live forever. Everyone looses their life at some point. So I hope, even though he might have sinned, we all do. What he did was wrong, and I'm sure he knew it. I hope he lives with Jesus in heaven, every1 should.

Not found Guilty

If all the people in prison system as of today, who have been found guilty of child molestation, had millions of dollars to spent on lawyers how many of them would be innocent? Can enough money buy an innocent verdict in our legal system? Do you honestly believe Michael Jackson was tried in a legal system or a justice system?

The bible also states be not a fool know a tree by the fruit it bears. That does not make us anyones judge, but we are suppose to know enough to be tree inspectors.

Shame on Michael Jackson

How ironic that if a average Joe abuse or molested a child, society would be in a uproar; however, a celebrity like Michael Jackson does it, society turns it's head. Now that he's dead, people want to put this molester on a high throne. Personally I hope he rots in hell for the number of innocent children who will grow up and have stigma of being molested and no one to stand up for them. Shame on society.

I find it very funny that

I find it very funny that everyone says they can care less about this man yet you all are on here talking about him. Do i think he was weird yes however no one has room to judge him on anything he did. Was he a prev? Only person who knows is God. Some stated that he paid a family money, who is to say that family wasn't trifling and just trying to get paid. There are children out there who really do get molested however there are also people who lie about it as well. We are so quick to get mad at Michael, but what about the parents who thought it was okay to let their child go to his house. People get a life. The man is dead. Oh...and no offense but everywhere knew Farrah and Ed were dying so that is why this has been a shock for people about Michael. I hate to see the day we pass and see how people talk about us.

" He who is without sin, cast the first stone"

Shame on you

He was found not guilty. Let he without sin cast the first stone. Shame on you.
