One local school hoped to make some money with music Saturday.

The Hixson High School PTSA held a Lose the Blues bluegrass festival to raise funds that will go toward a facelift for the outside of the building.

Featured groups included Mountain Cove, Barefoot Nellie and the Dismembered Tennesseans.

A kid's area was also available, along with a silent auction.

"There are great things going on at Hixson and we really wanted the school to reflect on the outside the great things that are going on inside the school," Hixson High Prinicipal Christine Couch said.

"So excited to see the new middle school and the upgrades going on at the high school is just fantastic," Emcee of Saturday's event Jim Bowles added.

It will cost about $14, 000 to paint the building.

Organizers hoped to raise $3,000 from the event to reach that amount.
