Many People Say They're Eager For Health Care Reform

Most people have strong opinions about what should be done to fix the nation's health care system. A New York Times/CBS Poll finds many American's would like to have a public health care option.
Barbara Lawrence, "They say we're the richest nation in the world, why can't we have health care for everybody."
Barbara Lawrence lost her insurance when she was laid off. Now she gets check ups through Volunteers in Medicine at Eastgate.
Lawrence, "I was offered COBRA of course, but it's so expensive I could not afford that at all. They do physicals, they make sure I'm being taken care of while I'm out of work."
But not everyone can get free or reduced cost medical care, including Theresa Overton. She says she doesn't qualify for TennCare and cant get insurance through an employer because she doesn't work.
Overton, "People like me that can't get insurance because I'm on a fixed income and it's not enough and I can't buy my own insurance. That's what worries me, it's like I'm stuck in the middle."
Many in Congress on both sides of the aisle think President Obama's plan is too expensive. They also question how the U.S. will pay for it. But the poll suggests some people are willing to pay a bit more to give everyone health coverage.
Ariana Beste is from Germany and says employers there are required to provide insurance to everyone who works.
Beste, "Somebody has to pay for it eventually. So your taxes are higher in countries where social security is provided, that's usually what American's don't like because you have to pay up front more."
Congress has several health care reform options on the table. In the meantime, many Americans without coverage hope nothing goes wrong.
Entitlement Mentality
The cost of health care in this country is driven by many things, but a few of the more costly are people going to the doctor who aren't sick (or sick enough to see the doctor); out of control malpractice verdicts that give 100's of millions of dollars for pain and suffering that no amount of money can take away, but all of us pay for; doctor's who order unnecessary test to cover their butts from those lawsuits; doctors who over prescribe medications; a FDA whose regulations runs the cost of drugs up substantially.
We don't need to ruin the world's best health care system to fix these issues.
There are over 300 million people in America. They tell us somewhere between 40 and 50 million aren't insured. It is estimated that a majority of these aren't insured because they don't want to spend the money.
We don need to ruin the world's best health care system to get everyone insured. Make those young single people who had rather buy beer than health insurance buy the insurance. They will put money into the system without taking as much as a 45 year old woman out, thus lowering the expense to everyone while covering themselves.
Let's provide insurance to the disabled who can not work to cover themselves. How putting tiers into plans that will allow children to cover disabled parents on their employer provided play. Wait, they can do that now by getting legal guardianship of their disable parent (or child).
Let's make afforable helth insurance available to low wage earners.
But, we don't have to destroy the world's best health care system to do so.
Visit a VA hospital and ask yourself, "Is this the health care system I want for everyone?"
Gas taxes don't even come
Gas taxes don't even come close to funding roads. Most local roads are paid for out of the General Fund which comes from property taxes and other local taxes, not gasoline taxes.
A recent study in the state of Texas showed that there was not even one road in the entire state that paid for itself in gas taxes and fees.
HEALTHCARE
If you like what the government has done with Medicare I'm sure you will love Obamacare. This is just one more step toward socialism.
health care for everyone?
When are people going to take responsibility for their own lives?
The thought of health care for everyone, just because we are one of the richest countries in the world leaves me lost for words. Imagine how rich we would be if we didnt have to pay for everyone elses kids? People who are unemployed with no health care that continue to have children. How about the people that get laid off and love it?
I recently overheard a consversation between a mill worker and her supervisor. The worker was stating that she wanted to be laid off but wasnt. I heard her say that she had seniority and should have been laid off. I always thought the opposite, just as the supervisor did.
The economy is bad. I understand that. The media needs to possibly report on why some of the people who are out of work came to be.
I am a working divorced father of one. I pay dearly, weekly to insure my daughter and myself. I work 50 hours a week and have been for the last 4 years. I am so tired of paying for other peoples kids, for their doctors visits and watching the cost of my health care rise to cover the cost. We need to hand out condoms and teach people resposibility, somethings their parents obviously failed at.
We would as a country prosper so greatly if everyone would use common sense, good judgement and take care of their own. I would hate to know that I had to depend on the govt to eat, provide shelter and make decisions for me. That seems to be where we are headed!
Health Care
I believe that everyone in this country is intitled to health care. The cost of medical care has gotten way out of control. It is one of the largest businesses in this country and there should be limits on what they charge.
Out of control health care.
So, if the cost is out of control how do you think giving it to everyone is going to fix the problem.
Do you know why it's out of control? No! Then why do you think your idea is worth two cents?
Find out why it's out of control and ask the Prez to work to fix what's causing that. Things like out of control malpractice law suits leading to unnecessary (and expensive) CYA tests and increased office visit costs to cover insurance. Or fixing unreasonable FDA requirements for new drugs that add 100's of millions to the cost of R&D.
Yes, lets provide coverage for those who can't work to earn insurance and make it affordable for those who work but can't afford it. But don't be stupid and say lets give it to everyone as if it's all of a sudden free if the govt. provides it.
Or maybe taking other people money to spend on yourself is okay with you. That's called stealing.
Sales tax funded national health care
Keep health care reform simple and it will produce the greatest economic stimulus ever for our country, while assuring good health, and freedom from the crushing expense and hassles, which are being endured by so many individuals and business, poorly served by our current system.
Health care reform must be paid for.
The cheapest way to collect the money is through a national sales tax, and not by forcing people and companies, to purchase questionable insurance, to pay for services in a system with bloated costs, that has failed so many.
Collecting gas taxes at the pump is how we pay for highways, roads and bridges so we can efficiently move around our country.
Collecting a national sales tax is how we can pay for free health care and medications, which anyone could receive, at any government owned and operated hospital or clinic, anywhere in the country.
To control costs, the cheapest, most efficient, best outcome producing, delivery system would be through government owned and operated hospitals and clinics, operated as a civilian VA style system, that would deliver all government funded health care.
Businesses that choose public care for their employees will have no financial obligations or any other responsibilities concerning health care.
A robust private health care industry could thrive serving patients, who would prefer, and could afford to pay for private care, which operations were not burdened with costs from indigent, preexisting conditions patients, or a load of government mandates.
Ask OMB; how much this dual choice, public or private system, leaving no one without care, would save annually from the $2.5 trillion now spent, and what will this combination health care and stimulus package do for individuals, businesses, and the US economy?
Free Health Care
You said, "Collecting a national sales tax is how we can pay for free health care and medications, which anyone could receive, at any government owned and operated hospital or clinic, anywhere in the country." FREE, did you say FREE health care and medications?
It ain't ever going to be free. But you know that already, I hope.
So lets just put a tax on it. Hummm, let's do that with everything and then everything will be free.

AMERICA’S NATIONAL
AMERICA’S NATIONAL HEALTHCARE EMERGENCY!
It’s official. America and the World are now in a GLOBAL PANDEMIC. A World EPIDEMIC with potential catastrophic consequences for ALL of the American people. The first PANDEMIC in 41 years. And WE THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES will have to face this PANDEMIC with the 37th worst quality of healthcare in the developed World.
STAND READY AMERICA TO SEIZE CONTROL OF YOUR NATIONAL HEALTHCARE SYSTEM.
We spend over twice as much of our GDP on healthcare as any other country in the World. And Individual American spend about ten times as much out of pocket on healthcare as any other people in the World. All because of GREED! And the PRIVATE FOR PROFIT healthcare system in America.
And while all this is going on, some members of congress seem mostly concern about how to protect the corporate PROFITS! of our GREED DRIVEN, PRIVATE FOR PROFIT NATIONAL DISGRACE. A PRIVATE FOR PROFIT DISGRACE that is in fact, totally valueless to the public health. And a detriment to national security, public safety, and the public health.
Progressive democrats and others should stand firm in their demand for a robust public option for all Americans, with all of the minimum requirements progressive democrats demanded. If congress can not pass a robust public option with at least 51 votes and all robust minimum requirements, congress should immediately move to scrap healthcare reform and demand that President Obama declare a state of NATIONAL HEALTHCARE EMERGENCY! Seizing and replacing all PRIVATE FOR PROFIT health insurance plans with the immediate implementation of National Healthcare for all Americans under the provisions of HR676 (A Single-payer National Healthcare Plan For All).
Coverage can begin immediately through our current medicare system. With immediate expansion through recruitment of displaced workers from the canceled private sector insurance industry. Funding can also begin immediately by substitution of payroll deductions for private insurance plans with payroll deductions for the national healthcare plan. This is what the vast majority of the American people want. And this is what all objective experts unanimously agree would be the best, and most cost effective for the American people and our economy.
In Mexico on average people who received medical care for A-H1N1 (Swine Flu) with in 3 days survived. People who did not receive medical care until 7 days or more died. This has been the same results in the US. But 50 million Americans don’t even have any healthcare coverage. And at least 200 million of you with insurance could not get in to see your private insurance plans doctors in 2 or 3 days, even if your life depended on it. WHICH IT DOES!
Contact congress and your representatives NOW! AND SPREAD THE WORD!
God Bless You
