Joe Legge: We are in the News 12 graphics suite where we're going to show you how we're going to revolutionize the way we report on traffic for your daily commute. James Howard from Sunny 92.3 is here, James what are some big advantages of this?

James Howard: I tell you, I'm really excited. I've been doing traffic here for years and this is exciting. These are color, video images that are happening right now as we speak. So, say we have an accident right now at the 24, 75 split and its backed up all the way to the East Brainerd exit, we can pinpoint with these new cameras and see how far that backup is.

Joe Legge: Now, I guess we're also able to see how severe an accident is on the roadway too. Whether or not this is something that, hey, its going to get cleaned up in 15 or 20 minutes before you leave its ok to decide to go this way - or maybe you really should avoid it.

James Howard: Right, you know we may get word of an accident on the Olgiati bridge. An accident, right. We'll, is it an over turned trailer, is it a fender bender, has TDOT already gotten it off the roadway? That's where its going to be extremely helpful to know where this accident is and for us to use these cameras, this incredible tool that we've got and see what kind of accident is located at that location.

Joe Legge: Alright, thank you James.

News 12 is the only station hooked in with TDOT to bring you live coverage from the traffic tracker system.
