Northwest Georgia Balloon Festival Coming This Weekend

Energizer BunnyThis weekend the Energizer Bunny, just back from Australia, and all the other hot air balloons will be inflating at Tillotson Field in Menlo.

The second week in May has become the date for the annual Northwest Georgia Balloon Festival. 

This year that means May 15-17. 

The world’s largest hot ‘hare’ balloon will be setting her size 98 EEEEE sandals in Chattooga County as she lands sometimes interestingly.

At 166 feet tall, just 15 feet taller than The Statue of Liberty, she should be easy to spot.

Purple People EaterRemember the big balloons launch at 6 AM and 6 PM weather permitting. 

Plan to be on hand for at least one launch. 

The colorful sight of those balloons lifting into the sky brings applause and shouts from spectators gathered along side the launch field. Bring your camera.

It is a memory you will want to record.  

While at the festival, be sure to sample some of the great foods our vendors will be preparing. 

There will be kettle corn, ice cream treats and bar-b-que just to name a few.

Craft vendors will be displaying their wares while the carnival rides produces screams from happy patrons. 

It’s festival atmosphere at its best.
