Police Try To Piece Together Facts In Local Shooting

Chattanooga police are dealing with four different crime scenes, investigating the city's 67th shooting this year. It started with a fight in a local park. "Somewhere during the fight, one of the involved parties pulled out a gun and shot the victim. He was shot once in the chest and as a result of that, dies from his injuries." says Chattanooga police Sargeant Jerri Weary.
The 28 year old victim was driven to Erlanger by another shooting victim, who had non-life threatening injuries Meanwhile, the possible suspect fled the scene on foot.
"We do have a potential suspect that apparently fled the scene and went to 2112 Delano Drive. He was transported by ambulance also, he was injured during this melee. We think he's our suspect." says Chattanooga Police Lieutenant Tim Carroll.
Police are hampered by the scattered crimes scenes, still trying to piece together the facts.
"He appears to be assaulted and we're still putting facts together from what happened, so we have this scene, Delano drive. And we've got the scene at Erlanger with the victim's car, and we've got a suspects car which is down the street so we have four different crime scenes we are trying to deal with right now."
Investigators also have two witnesses to the crime. "There were a couple of witnesses but they are juveniles and we can't talk to them until a parent is present and we can actually sit down with an investigator to get a written statement."

How do you live with yourself. I hope your family never has to go through anything like this. The non "upstanding" citizen that you are talking about is my nephew. He has a family that loves him and will miss him.

Family or not, nephew or not, SOMETHING was going on that involved him and that is that. What his role was in all this shooting is, as yet, undetermined. However, he WAS there, he DID get shot, and people do not USUALLY get shot for nothing. He was involved. I hold off on any accusations untile I have further information, but it doesn;t look good from where I sit.

The Mayor and council insist there is no need for citizens with carry permits to arm themselves while in a city park. What about this incident Mr. Mayor.

Did any of these victims have a permit to carry a firearm? Were any of these people Law Enforcement personnel? Were any of the firearms in this crime registered? Did any of the victims have a previous police record?
