Report cards went out to school districts across Tennessee Tuesday...  And it's a mixed bag of grades for Hamilton County.

Students in the third through eighth grades averaged a "C" on T-Cap scores, while grades five, eight, and eleven posted an "A" in writing.

School leaders warn Tennessee's new scale for calculating student achievement resulted in lower grades for some schools.  "Parents need to be aware that just because my school used to have straight As and now maybe has As and Bs or maybe has a C that doesn't mean that your child didn't learn," explains Danielle Clarke of the Hamilton County Schools.  "That doesn't mean that your child didn't make academic progress. It just means that the way the grades were configured is different."

Students posted a "C" system wide on value added scores.  That shows student achievement beyond what they're supposed to learn.
