Incumbent Linda Bennett faced opponent Deborah Scott. Scott finished just 34-votes behind Bennett in last month's race. But Tuesday night Scott won out with 61 percent of the vote. Scott says she has a laundry list of items she wants to tackle when she takes her seat. "I hope to work very diligently. I will work very hard to try and do good things for not only the city but our district and I look forward to working with the city council," Scott said. Moving now to District 9. That seat was left vacant by Debbie Gaines who decided not to run for re-election. Peter Murphy will now fill the seat. He won out over opponent J.T. McDaniel with 59 percent of the vote. Murphy says on his to do list - tackling crime issues. New council members will be sworn in April 20th.
