Soddy Daisy Fire Destroys Mobile Home Where 12 People Lived
Comments Below: 0
Twelve more people needed help from a relief agency Monday.
A fire destroyed the mobile home they were living in this morning.
Now the three families with six children under nine are homeless.
The Red Cross put them up in a motel and gave them some money.
They lost a dog in the fire.
Another is holding on at a veterinary hospital.
Four survived.
The family credits the smoke detector with saving their lives.
Will Leffew, Fire Victim, "People need to use those smoke detectors they really do. They probably save a lot more lives than what we got saved now. I'm an electrician I install them and stuff like that. A lot of people don't use them. They need to because if it hadn't been for that we probably died."
The family lost everything in the blaze, including a birthday cake and presents for a six year old boy's birthday today.
The family needs clothing and toys for 12 months to 10 years.
Food left on the stove sparked the fire.
