MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Prosecutors say the mother of a 4-month-old girl who died of drug toxicity has been indicted on a reckless homicide charge.
The Shelby County district attorney's office said Friday that 34-year-old Catrina Perryman has been charged in the death of her daughter, Isabella Chavez.
Last November, paramedics were called to a home where Perryman said her daughter had been having difficulty breathing and was turning blue.
According to authorities, the mother said the child was given only ibuprofen, but an autopsy showed she also had a level of Benadryl in her system that was several times the amount considered to be therapeutic for an adult.
Online court records do not show if Perryman has a lawyer. Bond has been set at $50,000.
