Most people have their Independence Day traditions that tend to involve friends, family, and food.
But do you celebrate in the summer heat by water or do you stay on land?
We found Chattanooga's making the most of all the elements.
People say each one has it's advantage.
"On the land you're just kind of soaking up the sun and really relating to the family members a little bit more," said Cathy Otis.
"We come out pretty much every summer on the fourth of July and go out and ride around a little bit and go swimming probably then go up to Soddy and see the fireworks and spend the night on the boat," Rachel Ford said.
Regardless of their preference, everyone said spending time with friends and family is the best part.
