Many residents were at work when the tornado struck, but others were glad to have lived through what one woman described as a living hell.

For Stephanie Beardsley losing the roof of her home was the least of her concerns as she  feels it is the little things that can't  be rebuilt or recovered that matter most in times like these.

"we were trying to gather my kids pictures, baby pictures and things like that often at times its those things that get messed up during a devastation like this, those are good, those are in place, yet again thank god, thank god".

The storm overturned cars, uprooted trees and left thousands people without power.
One survivor is still in shock after the tornado ripped through her dining room.

"Stay at home, no sirens, no warnings, it just came really fast, really fast, if it wasn't for my husband I won't be here, Yes, I've lost everything I own, everything".

Authorities have been  on the scene since early Wednesday afternoon, working to find anyone trapped under rubble and recover any other survivors.
