A Red Bank man and woman face serious charges after reportedly kidnapping and raping a woman.
Bev Itner, Red Bank business owner said, "I am so sorry to hear about the rape next door. That's awful. You always, you hate to hear about it anytime, but when its close its especially awful." Red Bank Police Department responded to a female victim that had been sexually assaulted at 4103 Dayton Boulevard. Michael Ray, Red Bank Detective said, "She had bruising to her face. Blood coming down her leg, apparent signs of sexual assault."
Court documents show 32 year old Joseph Michael Lawhorn and 22 year old Samantha Heather Cronin were drinking with the victim when the incident happened. Ray said, "They had met. We had think they met a day or two before." The woman was reportedly raped with foreign objects and held against her will. The victim at one point tried to use her cell phone and was assaulted again, and then the phone was taken. The victim was able to escape when the two suspects fell asleep. Neal Adams, Red Bank resident said, "This neighborhood isn't known for being one of the best, so its you know its one of the reasons we are getting out that's for sure."
Lawhorn and Cronin have both been charged with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated rape. They are due back in court July 29th. We'll bring you more information as it becomes available.
