Hundreds of people were getting in the Christmas spirit Saturday at the Hamilton Place Mall.

Performers played holiday songs inside the mall to kick off The Salvation Army's Angel Tree Program. Community members can select an "angel" on any of the angel trees in stores across the area.  Each angel tag contains a child's age, clothing size, gender and toy wishes. Then the community can purchase the necessities for those children in need.

Algerome Newsome, Salvation Army said, "We have almost double the angels that we did last year, and so its important for us to have volunteers come to ring the bells, and to help us raise the funds needed to meet those angels needs this year."
