The Chattanooga Tree Commission celebrated Arbor Day at the Chattanooga National Cemetery Friday afternoon.

They planted trees in a ceremony to honor America's veterans. Re-enacters from various periods participated. The Tree Commission received a grant from The Tennessee Department of Economic Development to plant trees. Gene Hyde, City of Chattanooga Forester said, "So we provided them with 83 trees and part of that is going to be some tree planting today. Part of it is the reforestation and part of it is going to be to honor our nations veterans who took part in our wars and conflicts."

More than 100 trees were lost at the cemetary during the tornadoes of 2011.
