Arrest made in Pinewood Avenue murder case

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee(WDEF) - Georgia authorities arrested a man wanted in connection to a Chattanooga murder that occurred inside an apartment building on April 9.

It happened at the Pinewood Apartment complex on the 3300 block of Pinewood Avenue.

A woman came home only to find her boyfriend dead on the bedroom floor. During their initial investigation, police were reporting that the woman's boyfriend died of a blunt force trauma to the head.

On Tuesday, Police arrested Eric Williams, 42, in connection to the crime. He has been charged with criminal homicide, false reports, and unlawful carrying of a firearm.

According to the arrest affidavit, The victim who has been identified as Daniel Adams, died from multiple gunshot wounds.

While conducting neighborhood interviews, detectives learned that area residents heard gunshots near the apartment where the Adams was found dead.

Shortly after the time gunshots were heard, Williams reportedly arrived at Parkridge Hospital with a gunshot wound to his head. He reportedly told authorities and hospital staff that he was shot near Ringgold Road and refused to answer further questions.

Detectives used recorded surveillance video of Williams entering and leaving the Pinewood Apartment complex as evidence. Detectives also found a fingerprint belonging to Williams on an item inside the victims apartment. That fingerprint was reportedly found 10 feet from where Adams was found dead.

Williams is now awaiting extradition back to Hamilton County.
