Hamilton County detectives responded to a house fire around 9pm on Friday, believed to be the works of an arsonist in a domestic dispute.
Officials on the scene tell WDEF News 12 Rick Dillon was taken into custody outside the burning home on Wesleyan Rd.
They believe he and his live-in girlfriend got into a domestic dispute, she wanted to call 911 but Dillon would not let her.
The woman was eventually able to leave the home and that is when detectives said Dillon poured gasoline throughout the house and set it on fire.
The next door neighbor John Montgomery said his wife saw the flames next door so he went over to try and help but was overwhelmed by the smoke and heat.
Montgomery said when he went around to the front yard he saw Dillon pouring gas on the front porch.
When firefighters and deputies arrived they found Dillon sitting in the front yard, the said they believe he had been drinking.
Montgomery said Dillon and his girlfriend often fought over his drinking problem.
Dillon has been charged with aggravated arson, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and domestic charges.
Detectives say the home was a total loss with about $130,000 worth of damage.
Dillon was renting the house, and the homeowner says he does have insurance.
