ATHENS, TN, (WDEF)-"This was a fake facebook account that had been setup they escalated from some demeaning comments to threats against a couple of students"

For Director of Schools in McMinn County, Mickey Blevins an investigation that began just after labor day is now closed but not without an unexpected twist.

"It was one of the original students that had been threatened or claimed to be threatened that had set up the fake facebook account"

For law enforcement here in Athens Tennessee this is not the first they have had to deal with this kind of issue but the repercussions for this student will be serious

Sheriff Joe Guy, "they will appear before the judge and more and likely a receive a fine, some probation and maybe some counseling"

Sheriff Guy says this may have been a cry for help.

"It makes you wonder if a kid would do something like this just for attention and that's certainly a good possibility"

80 Miles away from Athens, Pastor Brad Bridgeman of the First Baptist Church of South Pittsburg is campaigning to stop cyberbullying as he feels it's pushing Tennessee Teens to suicide.

"To teach the parents what to look for with their kids that are being bullied and are thinking about suicide and how to talk to their kids, and to be able to share with their kids who they are build a healthy esteem with in themselves"

The Athens teen has been suspended from school and police say this is the second confirmed case of cyberbullying they have dealt with in the past 12 months.
