ATHENS, Tennessee(WDEF) - Police are investigating a chain of burglaries at area beauty salons.
NU-U Cuts and Styles was one of four beauty salons in Athens that was targeted in one night by bandits.
"My front window was bashed in with a large brick and they stole my register with only $20 bucks in the register but it was just the principal of the thing," said NU-U owner Larry Saunders.
Saunders kept the large rock that was hurled through his window. Monday afternoon, a repairman showed up to replace that window so Saunders can re-open his business. Saunders is both a local pastor and community leader who's owned the salon for 12 years. Now he's trying to financially recoup after his salon was targeted.
"You lose a whole day's work. And then not only that but you have people who might be skeptical about what's going on. Maybe you've done something to someone and caused something to happen and that brings fear over people," Saunders said.
Right around the corner, Lovely Nails and Spa was also hit by bandits. The owner didn't want to talk but according to police, crooks broke a window to get inside and caused property damage.
Less than mile from that location, Tickled Pink Hair and Nail Salon was targeted. The bandits ransacked the place and left nothing unturned.
The owner says $300 in cash was stolen and $3000 worth of property was damage.
"Well it set me back a lot this week because I have to make payroll and so what I made went to the girls to pay them," said Jeanne Willis.
So far, police don't have any true leads on suspects. They are now telling business owners to be on full alert because it's likely the bandits will strike again.
