Art and music will fill the M. L. King Boulevard next weekend...for the Fifth Annual Bessie Smith Heritage Festival.
The festival has expanded to two days this year.
Along with the usual food and unique culture found only on the Big Nine... The Bessie Smith Cultural Center will bring artists from Memphis, Nashville, New Orleans and New York for a Neo Soul Night Saturday and a jazz night Sunday.
Rose Martin,Bessie Smith Cultural Center,  "We're going to be starting early 10 am out on the lawn. We will have merchandizing vendors, visual artists,  an artist market specifically for visual artists. We also have live entertainment. That part is family friendly and it's free. We call it Bessie's Arts and 9th Street event."
Then the party moves inside.
You'll need a ticket for that.
The 5th Annual Bessie Smith Heritage Festival is next weekend, August 18th and 19th.
