It is a special honor for one Chattanooga police officer.

Saturday, in Washington, DC, Officer Lorin Johnston has been given a Top Cop award by none other than the President of the United States.

It is an award that pays tribute to officers who go above and beyond the call of duty.

If you will remember in 2011, Johnston was in a shoot-out.

That shoot-out ultimately killed his good friend, Tim Chapin.

Johnson stood over his friend shielding him, even though he himself had taken two bullets.

President Barack Obama, says, "They're a pretty humble group. Some will tell you they don't deserve to be called heroes. They're entitled to their own opinion. I disagree with them. I think they are, what else do you call a team that takes down a deranged gunman and saves countless lives?"

Senator Corker Bob Corker will also be honoring Johnston on Monday.
