"I could have been dead, but I'm standing here talking to y'all."
Joyce Jones is lucky to be alive. She was sitting in her Calhoun home when the unthinkable happened. A tornado tore through her peaceful neighborhood.
"It was very very scary. I thought I was in the air and I thought we was spinning but obviously it just completely lifted my house up off of the foundation and slammed us into the front yard."
Jones husband was at work at the time, and could only listen helplessly on the phone.
"It's hard to explain the feeling that you feel when your wife that you love so much is in that kind of predicament and there was nothing I could do," says Larry Jones.
Jami Waters rushed to the home, to find it destroyed, holding out hope
her sister would be ok.
"We went around the back of the house and the back door was busted and my friend opened the door. Joyce was sitting on the couch she was just afraid with her little chocolate lab in her hand. She was shocked. She was in shock is what it was."
"The whole world seemed like it was quiet and then the next thing I know you heard this rumbling sound and I just took cover and it was like it happened, within 30 seconds, that's how quick it was. It was unreal. It scared me to death," Jones says.
30 seconds of terror, a lifetime of memories of her son Tristan, who passed away in November, scattered in the debris.
"Those pictures of my son cannot be replaced. He's in heaven right now. I can't make pictures like that no more of him. I've been holding on to this place since my son passed away. I didn't want to sell it. I wanted to stay here. But guess what? God just said..it's time for y'all to go."
Now the Jones' say they have no choice but to move on.
"A lot of memories in in 8 or nine years in that house and I just didn't want to leave. But now I think it's time to move on."
