A national relay charity walk passed through Chattanooga this afternoon.
It's called "Carry the Load" and goes for 2-thousand miles across the United States. This is the third year for the event. The relay team arrived on Rossville Boulevard, then went onto Main Street, with a stop on Signal Mountain Boulevard before they continued on. The walk is meant to restore the true meaning of Memorial Day by connecting Americans to the sacrifices of our military, law enforcement, firefighters and rescue personnel. Jo-Lee Warren, Carry the Load Representative said, "Memorial Day is not about the shoe sales or cookouts, hot dogs, hamburgers. Its about those that have given their lives and served so that we can have our freedom and to live in the country that we live in."
Funds raised from the relay support several different charities. For more information visit www.carrytheload.org.
