A popular student-driving program in Chattanooga says it has too many students. And it's closing off classes.
This spring three Drivers Education courses can no longer take students. The education coordinator says the two-year-old program is in high demand.
For 50 bucks a student can get 30 hours of classroom training at a rec center and six hours of behind-the-wheel practice.
But more classes are needed to keep up with the number of students needing the lessons.
“Because there is a constant need for kids to be properly trained to drive; and the more kids we funnel through this program and graduate, the safer our roads are going to be. We all benefit from this,” said Drivers Education Coordinator Caroline Johnson.
Classes at the Hixson, Tyner and T-DOT Traffic Management centers are all full.
Spring classes are only available at the South Chattanooga Center in St. Elmo.
