CHATTANOOGA, TN, (WDEF)- Mechanical engineer and environmental activist Corey Ballew believes ParkWay Towers can and should look like this.
"A rooftop greenhouse and LEED condos for the third and forth floor and an indoor vertical farm and microbrewery and meadery for the first two levels"
Corey has been working with a local Remax office since earlier this year and released his 3d design online just a few hours ago.
"likely estimations for the development to be done would be two years at least but it would be something that the community could get involved in now"
The designer says he felt compelled to design a face lift for the 80 year old building which once played a major role in controlling electricity voltage for the power generated by turbines on the Tennessee River.
Neighboring businesses are excited by the plans and feel it will only the boost south side further.
Cynthia Canion, T-Bone Sports Cafe,"I love it when they preserve them I hate it when they tear them down"
She says Ballew's plans could bring positive attention to the area.
"It's fantastic because he's keeping the integrity of the building, he's making it old but new and very eclectic, it's a gorgeous design"
The delapidated building was the scene of a tragic accident and major lawsuit in 2005 when a teenager fell from it's upper stories when trying to photograph the city skyline.
