(WDEF)   The Chattanooga Fire Department released an update on Firefighter Thomas Williams.
He is one of the three firefighters injured in Monday's fire on 4th Avenue.
Williams is on his way back home Tuesday from the burn unit at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, where he received some additional treatment for his burn injuries. He will be off for the next few weeks so he can focus on his recovery.
Williams and his wife are very heartened by all the support he has received over the past 24 hours; and he said he would like to offer his thanks to the following: Battalion Chief Rick Boatwright, the doctors and nurses at Vanderbilt, the Local 820 and the FOF, and his entire extended family in this department.
He said words cannot express his gratitude for your support.
Fire Department officials say Williams gave them permission to release his name Tuesday.
As Chief Flint has already suggested, please keep Thomas and the other two firefighters and their families in your thoughts and prayers.
