CHATTANOOGA, TN (WDEF) - The Chattanooga History Center has big plans for their new $400,000 grant.

They're using the money to finally get the center up and running.

It's currently located right next to the aquarium, but not open for business.

Executive Director Daryl Black says the the center will get a face-lift, and next year you'll be able to see film and sound installations that tell the Chattanooga story.

Black adds, "That's what we submitted as part of our package to NEH. That's what won us this grant. They loved the way that we tell the story. They love the way that we use technology and that we use a visual idiom that connects to contemporary audiences."

The National Endowment for the Humanities issued the grant.

They're an independent federal agency.
