Lester Norton of Chattanooga area veterans is surprised at the demands being placed on the cemetery.
"We are burying eight to eleven a day, 5 days a week."
Starting next week, Chattanooga National Cemetery will also be asking that all artificial flowers be removed from graves.
"Decayed or unsightly flowers but we will leave the artificial flowers by the grave side until April."
For one Chattanooga woman whose son and husband served in the armed forces and have passed away, the up keep and expansion of the cemetery is just one way to say thank you.
"If you see a veteran tell him thank you for serving, because it so important as they paid a price and we owe them a debt of gratitude."
